According to Hindu religion Lord Shani is the
son of Lord Surya Dev and goddess Vikshubha or Chhaya (Shadow goddess). Lord Shani fined the seventh place among all the nine planets which govern our lives
and also referred as Saturn. He is also known as Shaneeshwara, Shani Bhagawan,
Saneeswaran, and Lord Sani etc. here the myth about birth of Lord Shani is that
when Shani opened his eyes as a baby for first time, the sun went into an
eclipse. Since then Lord Shani is believed to be of god causing miseries in the
life of a human being.
Lord Shani is the cousin of Lord Yama (God of death) and their vehicle is crow.
Lord Shani color is black holding a sword, arrows and two daggers and variously
mounted on a black predator or a raven, metal is iron and gemstone is Blue
Sapphire (Neelam). Element of Lord Shani is air; direction is west (where sun
sets and darkness start) and are regulates in all seasons. Traditionally the
foods for Shani are sesame seeds or black gram, his flower is violet and related
to all black animals and all trees that are measured to be useless and
unattractive. Shani is the lord of Saturday. He supposed to be the strongest
malefic and a strict teacher showing tolerance, effort, endeavor, and stamina,
who brings limits and misfortunes. Lord Shani rules the sun signs Capricorn and
Aquarius, dignified in Libra and fall in Aries. Planet Mercury and Venus are
supposed as friendly towards Shani or Saturn, while the Planet Sun, Moon and
Mars are enemies. Shani is belief to be the lord of three Nakshatra: Pushyami,
Anuradha and Uttara Bhadrapada.
