The name Aishwarya Rai instantly conjures up the image of a very beautiful & graceful woman and a Miss World. According to many millions, she is the most beautiful woman on this planet and it seems there are not many who won’t agree on this. She is the current reigning queen of Indian Cinema and that is not all - she has also forayed into Hollywood and is announcing her arrival in the International Cinema circuit. She has been ruling the hearts of millions, and now cupid has struck and the romance with Abhishek has blossomed into the forthcoming marriage taking place on 19th of April 2007.

A lot has been written about Aishwarya and her beauty and other aspects, but I am going to discuss her 2007 prospects as per planetary placements in her horoscope. There is a difference of opinion about Aishwarya’s time of birth as per astrologers. I have taken the below Natal Chart details, as the same have been used by quite a few astrologers.

Aishwarya was born on 1st of November, 1973 at Mangalore. At the time of her birth, Virgo Ascendant was rising on the eastern horizon. She was born under the Poorvashada Nakshatra in Sagittarius Sign or Rashi. Ascendant plays a very important part in a horoscope. Ascendant /Rising Sign or Lagna is the physical aspect of one’s self or the portrayal to the people around us. Being a Virgo Ascendant makes Aishwarya analytical, but this doesn’t means she is cold and insensitive. She has deep and tender emotions and has a caring attitude towards others, especially towards people whom she is close to. By virtue of having a Virgo Ascendant she is fixed in opinion, but not to that extent that she is totally inflexible. Work is very important to her, and a typical trait of Virgo Ascendants is their capacity to accomplish a great deal during their lifetime and Aishwarya is no different, as we can all see how much she has achieved in very few years. She will achieve everything in her life with her hard work rather than through the influence of other people. By virtue of having a Virgo Ascendant, she is very charming and elegant /sophisticated. In Astrology, Mercury is associated with mental activities, communicative skills. Due to Mercury’s influence, Aishwarya is facile in speech; she is clever and probably has a good sharp memory. Mercury, as we know, also rules the voice, so due to this influence, she could also excel in singing apart from acting.

In Aishwarya’s natal chart, Ascendant & Tenth Lord Mercury is occupying the 3rd house in Scorpio Sign. This placement makes her charitable and god-fearing. It also makes her energetic and active and able to take quick decisions. She will always achieve her goals with her energetic drive and hard work. She is a self-made woman. In her chart, Mercury is suffering due to Paap Kartari Yoga as Mercury is hemmed in between cruel planets Rahu and Sun. Due to its effect, she may be affected by contoversies. Due to some hidden influences and obstacles she may suffer from tensions on and off, but she will be able to overcome such difficulties. In Aishwarya’s Chart, Mercury is aspected by 3rd and 8th house Lord Mars. By virtue of this aspect, she has the power of speech and courage to face any adverse situation which may come into her life.

In Astrology, 5th house, its Lord and Venus are the main indicators of entertainment, cinema and fashion. The 9th, 10th houses, their Lords and Sun are Karaka or significator planet of social status and fame. Saturn, which is Lord of 5th and 6th houses, is placed in the 10th house. Venus, which is Lord of 2nd and 9th houses is placed in 4th house. According to Parasar Hora Sastra, placement of trine lord at angle is concerned as an excellent Rajyoga. Therefore, the placements of Saturn and Venus are creating very strong Rajyogas. Both planets are also placed at an angle to each other and having a mutual aspect. Due to these placements, both Venus and Saturn are fully capable of providing ample success and reputation. If we check the horoscope of Aishwarya we’d find that the Moon, Venus, Rahu, Saturn and Ketu are placed in Kendra or Quadrants, which is a good combination for any chart.

In Aishwarya’s horoscope, Sun and Jupiter are both in the sign of debilitation. According to Vedic Indian astrology, debilitated planets are not able to provide favourable results. Here, I would like to share an important fact - Sun and Jupiter are both getting Neechbhanga Rajyoga due to placement of Moon and Venus at an angle to ascendant as well as Moon chart. In Navamansa chart, Jupiter is occupying the ascendant in Aries sign and the Sun is placed over the 11th. Therefore, Jupiter and Sun both are in a strong position in Navamansa chart as well as natal chart. These planets will provide Aishwarya with popularity and wealth.

Aishwarya’s chart also has a few malefic combinations. Conjunction of Venus, Rahu and Moon in 4th house is not a favourable combination. Karaka (Significator) planets for love and peace of mind, Venus and Moon, are both suffering due to conjunction and aspect of Rahu and Saturn. According to Vedic astrology, Rahu and Saturn are natural malefic planets. Both are fully capable of creating separative tendencies. In her chart 5th lord is aspected by Rahu; it shows heartbreaks and tensions in love. There are indications that due to this aspect Aishwarya may not get the expected emotional support in the form of love.

Let me now discuss Aishwarya’s career & married life along with her prospects for year 2007.

Career of Aishwarya Rai

In Aishwarya’s chart, Gemini sign or Rashi is placed in her 10th house. Its Lord Mercury is placed in 3rd house in Scorpio sign. In Navamansa, Mercury is placed in 4th house in Cancer sign. 3rd house is Mercury’s own house and its placement indicates that Aishwarya has an alert mind and is very versatile in handling people and her work. She is practical and efficient in executing any project. She is witty and is very eloquent in expressing herself, which helps her in handling her career. In her chart, Saturn, which is Lord of 5th and 6th houses, is placed in 10th house and 10th house is aspected by Karaka planets Venus and Moon. Due to these combinations and placements, 10th house and its Lord are both in a very strong position. Aishwarya will always move ahead in life and achieve the desired success in her career. Fame and success will come easily to her.

There is Gemini sign in her 10th house. Its Lord Mercury is placed in the 3rd house in the Natal chart. Saturn, which is Lord of 5th and 6th houses, is placed in the 10th house. 10th house is aspected by Karaka Venus and Moon. Therefore 10th house and its lord are both in a strong position. Due to placement of Saturn, Venus and Moon, Aishwarya will get desired success.

As discussed earlier, in Astrology, 5th house, its Lord and Venus are the main indicators of entertainment, cinema and fashion. In her chart, 5th Lord Saturn is placed in the 10th and is having mutual aspect combination with Moon, Rahu and Karaka planet Venus (2nd as well as 9th lord). Definitely it is a very strong yoga for success in tinsel town. Usually this yoga is rarely found in horoscopes. Therefore, she was inclined towards modeling and cinema. When she was selected Miss World in 1994, Aishwarya was passing under the Dasha-Bhukti of Moon-Saturn. Both planets were making a very strong Rajyoga.

When Aishwarya made her debut in the film Industry with a Tamil movie Iruvar in 1997, she was undergoing the Dasha-Bhukti of Moon-Mercury. But from July 1997 to February 1998, she was undergoing Dasha-Bhukti of Moon-Ketu in which she got the Star Screen award for the most promising newcomer.

Bhuktis (Sub periods) of Venus and Sun in Dasha (Main period) of Moon from February 1998 to April 2000 were both very favourable periods for her. During this period, she was greatly appreciated for her acting abilities. She got name and fame with success of her movies like Taal, Jeans, Aa Ab Laut Chalen, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke. She got various awards for her role in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in this period also and she got her position strengthened in the film industry.

In her chart, Mars is placed in Aries Sign in 8th house. Here it is creating Vipareeta Rajyoga. This yoga occurs when the lords of dushtana houses (6,8,12) occupy other dushtana houses. This yoga gives unexpected rise in life. In her chart, this Vipareeta Yoga is occurring in the 8th house and this yoga is called Sarala Yoga (straight yoga). This yoga will bestow a long life and fearlessness on Aishwarya. She will be prosperous and easily overcome her enemies in life. During Mars Dasha, starting from April 2000 to April 2007, Aishwarya got many awards like Filmfare Best Actress Award for Devdas, Star Screen Jodi No. 1 Award along with Shahrukh Khan for Devdas, Star Screen Best Actress Award for Devdas, IIFA Best Actress Award for Devdas, Zee Cine Best Actor - Female Award for Devdas, IIFA Best Actress Award for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Zee Cine Best Actor - Female Award for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, IIFA Global Indian Media Personality Award, Zee Cine True Indian Beauty Award and Best Performance in a Song-Female for Kajra Re MTV Immies.

In her Chart Mars is the Lord of the 3rd and 8th houses and is placed in 8th house (its own house), which indicates a long life and a passionate spouse for her. This placement bestows her with power to influence people. This placement indicates fame and influence and expansion of power by hard work. Placement of Mars in 8th house gives a potential to rule the hearts of people and we all know she has been doing it for so many years now. She should be careful about accidents and take care while driving a vehicle. In comparison with her professional life, her personal life may be affected by stress. A lot has been discussed on this in the media and newspapers so I won’t dwell on this aspect in this chart.

Now, I would like to discuss about the placement of Rahu. In her natal chart, Rahu is placed in the 4th house along with Venus and Moon. Rahu in the 4th house indicates she is very clever, wise, and attached to nice things, but on and off she may suffer from stomach trouble. She is blessed with a sharp mind, but may refrain from speaking the truth unless it serves her interest. She has an inborn talent to go deeply into the root cause of any problem very quickly and she is capable of arriving at a long-lasting solution for any problem. She is capable of devising grand plans and this 4th house has the potential of giving her worldwide fame. She will get extraordinary gains and position in life mainly from her own efforts. This placement gives her difficulties in finding true friends. She is undergoing main Dasha of Rahu from April 2007 onwards.

Married Life of Aishwarya Rai

According to Vedic Indian astrology, 7th house and its Lord tell about marriage and spouse-related matters. Venus and Jupiter are known as natural Karakas of marriage-related issues. In Aishwarya’s horoscope there is Pisces sign in 7th house. Lord of 7th house Jupiter is posited in 5th house in sign of debilitation. Saturn is aspecting Aishwarya’s 7th house and Moon and Venus both of which are placed in her 4th house are affected by Saturn’s aspect and due to this her marriage got unexpectedly delayed. On the other hand, in the Navamansa Chart, Jupiter is occupying the Ascendant along with another auspicious planet Venus which is the Karaka of marriage. In Navamansa Chart, both are not aspected by any malefic planets. In fact, this is a very good placement in Navamansa Chart. In Natal as well as in Navamansa Chart, 7th lord Jupiter is not suffering due to malefic planets. Hence, her married life will be a successful one and she will enjoy all comforts and happiness in her married life.

Prospects in Year 2007

At present, Aishwarya is undergoing Dasha-Bhukti of Mars-Moon. In her chart, Moon is well-placed along with Karaka planet Venus. This period indicates success in career as well as marital affairs. Her movie Guru was appreciated when it opened in cinema halls all over the world. In this period, she got engaged to Abhishek. At present, Ascendant Lord Mercury is transiting in Aquarius sign, but very soon it will move into Pisces sign which is in her 7th house. So Mercury will be transiting over her 7th house. Transit of Mercury from 7th of April to 24th of April 2007 is very auspicious for her marriage.

From mid April 2007 onwards, Aishwarya will be under the influence of Dasha-Bhukti-Antra of Rahu-Rahu-Rahu. In this period, Aish will get frequent chances to travel abroad. There are indications of a hectic life ahead of her and she may experience some stress due to this but as her chart is excellent, she will be able to overcome this easily. This period also indicates a few instances of difference of opinion between herself and her in-laws and spouse, but it won’t be visible in public. Due to the inherent strength of her chart she will be able to overcome these differences. In her chart, transit of Rahu which is Dasha Lord is favourable. According to the Ascendant, it is transiting over 6th house and according to Moon Chart it is transiting over 3rd house. Both transits are favourable. Transit of Rahu in Sixth House indicates gains in profession. She should take care of her health and try not to overstrain herself in this transit. She should have a practical approach in this period and should make use of her mental faculties to have success in her career. There could be some health problems, especially problems regarding intestine or stress. She will get good support from her family and friends.

From mid September 2007 to January 2008 end, Aishwarya will be under the influence of Dasha-Bhukti-Antra of Rahu-Rahu-Jupiter. In her horoscope, Jupiter is occupying 5th house in a sign of debilitation. However, Jupiter won’t give inauspicious results as it is getting Neechbhanga Rajyoga due to the placement of Moon and Saturn at an angle to the Ascendant. So Jupiter will give its auspicious results even when it is in a sign of debilitation. From 22nd of November 2007 onwards Jupiter is going to transit over its Mooltrikona sign Sagittarius, which will bestow gains in career, fame, status and name. She could also enter into new deals and get fame internationally. This bhukti of Jupiter is going to be an excellent one for her career as well as married life.
